GAIN is a Global Alliance of International independent freight forwarders who have joined together with the aim of fulfilling the needs of their customers around the globe for the efficient delivery of their goods to buyers in the desired destinations.

Mr. Jayantha Liyanagamage (Globally known as JAY) who has been the President/CEO  of GAIN for the last 12 years, states that this network which was formed in 1999 has 65 members in 55 countries all of which are key markets, giving the network a genuinely worldwide coverage.

Jayantha Liyanagamage who is the Director of UCL LOGISTICS which is a subsidiary of the well-known Expolanka Group of Companies and a member company of National Chamber of Exporters (NCE) has enabled Sri Lanka to gain global recognition in the field of Transportation and Logistics, particularly related to Freight Forwarding utilizing his knowledge and expertise in this field.

Member countries of GAIN have been able to build long term relationships, based on experience, flexibility, and dedication, to ensure the high valued cargo of their customers is monitored throughout the logistics chain.

According to Mr. Liyanagamage who is also the Sectorial Head for Logistics in the Council of the NCE, GAIN provides two main benefits to member countries. Firstly, as an International Association where each member supports and markets network members in other countries, small and medium sized logistics companies who are active only in their own country can together compete with big global forwarders on the world stage. Secondly, the payment protection plan of GAIN insures each member against non-payment of debts owing to it by another member, which is vital to maintain their cash flows. Further non-payment of invoices would entail the concerned member being expelled from the network, and also the name of the offender being communicated to the relevant international and national bodies.

Members of GAIN are selected from among the best cargo agents in their respective countries, also considering their ability to communicate effectively with each other to aggressively seek business in the freight market.

It is noteworthy that to the initiative of Mr. Liyanagamage the 20th Annual Conference of GAIN was held last year in Sri Lanka at the Hotel Galadari.  It attracted key players in the logistics field from the U.S.A, the UK, France, Spain, Japan, Colombia and South Africa as well as from other regions of the world. It provided an impetus for the growing transportation sector in Sri Lanka an ideal platform to showcase the expertise of Sri Lanka to provide a range of services in transportation logistics and promote the positive image of Sri Lanka globally. The large number of overseas representatives who attended the Conference was testimony for their confidence in Sri Lanka. The next GAIN Logistics Symposium would take place in Paris, France during the first week of August 2018 he further said.

It is also pertinent to note that the 4th Global Logistics Symposium arranged by the Jay’s Club International Logistics Organization (JCILO) which specializes in transportation related to Shipping and Aviation of which Mr. Liyanagamage is the Founder President will take place at the Ritz-Carlton, Millenia in Singapore from the 07th to the 10th of March 2018. The Symposium this year has attracted participants from the US, Canada, Switzerland, the UK, France, China, Australia, Japan, Spain, Greece, Egypt, South Africa and other regions covering 75 countries.
