The Chamber is pleased to inform you that all arrangements have been finalized to conduct a Post Budget Forum for exporters.
The objective of the Forum is to disseminate valuable information and knowledge to member exporters, on the impact of the Budget Proposals on the export sector, to enable Member exporters to make best use of the proposals.
We are pleased to inform you that Hon. Mangala Samaraweera, Minister of Finance and Media has accepted the invitation extended by the Chamber, and has confirmed his participation at the Forum.
The main presentation will be made by Mr. Suresh Perera – Attorney at – Law and Principal Tax & Regulatory of KPMG, who will analyze the impact of the Budget Proposals on the Export Sector & related issues.
The Chamber had already made several proposals related to exports based on a survey carried out among Member exporters. The Chamber has also submitted a separate report to the Ministry of Finance related to the Budget Proposals of the Chamber during the last two years, and specially related to the proposals which have not yet been implemented.
We feel that the Budget Proposals this year will have major impact on exports; including particularly assistance for R & D Activities, Brand promotion etc.
Following the address of the Hon. Minister, and the main presentation, there will be a Panel discussion comprising Senior Officials of the Ministry of Finance, Inland Revenue Department, Ministry of Development Strategies and International Trade, Verite Research, and the Resource person of KPMG. The Hon. Minister of Finance, and Hon. Eran Wickremaratne, State Minister of Finance will also participate ( Pending confirmation) at the discussions to clarify queries and issues of participants.
